Boxers with Parkinson's, BwP, is a Washington 501c3 nonprofit organization focused on technology to assess and track the progression of symptoms along with the physical capabilities and limitations of people with Parkinson's.

Boxers with Parkinson's was formed in December of 2019.  Our first service is PARS, the Parkinson's Assessment & Reporting System, a tablet-based application to standardize and centralize assessments for members of the Rock Steady Boxing network.  PARS improves on the professionalism and quality of the assessment providing exciting new insights and trends while saving time for coaches and boxers alike.

Boxers with Parkinson's Board of Directors

As with any new nonprofit, the board of directors is critical in guiding the organization.  We thank our board for their leadership.

President:  Michael Sellars.

Mike was a founder of BwP and the driver for the app.  He is a "Parkie", a Rock Steady Boxer, coach and affiliate.  His professional life was in sales and marketing primarily with high tech companies.  His background with IBM drove his interest in converting assessment data for 40,000 Rock Steady boxers from paper to the cloud.  Mike is a Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow.  Mike is a boxing for Parkinson's advocate but an exercise for Parkinson's fanatic, and as such, he boxes, plays tennis and bikes.

Director: Alex "Sandy" Williamson

Sandy retired in 2010 after 34 years as a senior scientist with the US geological survey water discipline. He led a national database team during his last 13 years building a national data warehouse for water quality data for the program.  From 2000-2010, the Google search "water quality data" would get the first hit to that database.

He started his own boat trailer sales dealership after retirement which was very successful, being the largest seller of aluminum boat trailers on the West Coast.  Having a father with Parkinson's, Sandy began tracking his Parkinson's symptoms in 2014 and was diagnosed in 2022.  Today, Sandy is Rock Steady.  He has been on the BwP board since 2023.

Director:  Calvin Gligorea

Calvin grew up and attended high school in Sheridan, Wyoming going on to earn a bachelor of science from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Professionally, Calvin worked as a real estate broker and served as the branch manager for Berkshire Hathaway. In my retirement, I continue to maintain an interest in real estate and other service organizations. In my free time I enjoy Rock Steady Boxing, golfing and kayaking and spending time with family.
